Bankable HPC projects
— How we support the de-risking of first-of-a-kind carbon capture plants
Capsol’s proven risk mitigation framework
Capsol’s risk mitigation approach combines demonstration campaigns, proven engineering, and aligned partners to reduce technical and financial risks in delivering industrial-scale carbon capture plants.

Demonstration with CapsolGo® |
Deployable mobile test unit to validate performance on real flue gas - de-risks integration before full-scale investment |
---|---|
Proven modular engineering |
We apply standardized, pre-validated HPC designs to minimize unknowns and accelerate permitting, procurement, and delivery |
Embedded vendor collaboration |
Key equipment vendors (compressors, columns, controls) are involved from early design to commissioning - ensuring aligned expectations and smooth execution |
Finance-ready documentation |
We support clients with technical documentation and performance cases tailored for engagement with the finance and insurance communities |
CDR strategy guidance |
We assist clients in shaping high-integrity Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) strategies aligned with standards and market expectations |
Access to transport & storage |
We connect project developers to reliable regional transport and storage partners - closing the loop on CO₂ management |

Making first-of-a-kind projects investable, permittable, and scalable
We understand the challenge of deploying new carbon capture technology in operational environments.
Our de-risking model ensures project stakeholders — including regulators, investors, and operators — gain confidence through demonstration, engineering rigor, and value-chain alignment.
Stockholm Exergi - One of the world’s largest BECCS projects

On March 27, 2025, Stockholm Exergi made final investment decision (FID) to build one of the world’s largest facilities for capture and permanent storage of biogenic CO₂ at their biomass-powered combined heat and power (CHP) plant Värtaverket in Stockholm, Sweden, with a full-scale deployment of 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2028.
Stockholm Exergi has been awarded EUR 180 million by EU, and has signed permanent carbon removal agreements with Microsoft and the Frontier fund.
With the first FID for a large-scale project with Capsol’s technology now in place, this is set to further de-risk technology decisions and accelerate commercial traction.
